Assessment of Support for Community Buildings in Leicestershire January 14, 2013 |

They provide local people with a place to meet where news, information and ideas can be exchanged, views expressed and actions discussed and agreed. Proposed Garden of Remembrance November 27, 2012 |
Groby Parish Council intends to create a “Garden of Remembrance”, which although not consecrated, is dedicated to the dead of all religions and non-believers. Cremated ashes of both Groby and "non" Groby residents can be strewn within the Garden of Remembrance. Bereaved people can visit this garden for some quiet solace and contemplation and memorials in the form of memorial plaques, tree or shrub planting will be available.

The Parish Council have produced a "Cemetery Information Pack" that provides you with useful information respecting Groby Village Cemetery, including fees, pre-purchase of burial plots, regulations governing the cemetery, as well as additional leaflets concerning "What to do when someone dies" and "FAQ about burials and cremations".

The Parish Council have also purchased a further fifteen Silver Birch trees which have been planted on Marina Park to continue the walk-way linking it to Stamford Memorial Park, thus creating a lasting legacy to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Consultation - play equipment on Flaxfield Close Amenity Area April 24, 2012 |
The Parish Council is considering re-siting the exisiting multi use piece of play equipment currently located at Quarry Park to Flaxfield Close amenity area for the use of primary school age children, with a view to adding additional similar age range items once funding is secured.
The Parish Council is contacting local residents of the area for their views on this idea. Please submit your comments within the Consultation Tab.

FLY TIPPING IS A CRIME April 23, 2012 |
There have been several recent occurences of fly tipping within the village. Dumping waste where it's not allowed, or allowing others to do so, is a criminal offence. You could face very large fines and even be sent to prison.

Bloors new plan for 90 homes in Groby April 1, 2012 |
“The revised scheme will provide approximately 90 dwellings and the development will avoid those parts of the site subject to flood risk and will allow for unobstructed easements to the watercourses along the northern and eastern boundaries. It will also incorporate a Sustainable Urban Drainage system. The revised planning application will be submitted shortly and representations can be made to the Borough Council in the usual way once the application has been submitted,” said a spokesman for the company.

Community College youth initiative gets Jubilee funding March 7, 2012 |
)(Article provided by www.grobyonline.tk - Last October the Parish Council discussed the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and decided to look at setting some money aside to support any village organisation that wished to organise an event as part of the celebrations. Organisers were invited to give advance notice of any events they planned in order that a diary could be maintained to help others making similar plans avoid date conflicts. When it set the budget for 2012/13 the Council set aside £1500 to help fund Jubilee events but surprisingly with only a few months to go no-one has responded to the invitation. With no apparent demand for assistance in financing an event the Council has decided to allocate £1000 of the provision to help a local good cause in need of funding in Jubilee Year.
