Village in Bloom
“Village in Bloom”
continuing the good work
Some time ago one or two people saw the need for Groby to be just as pretty in the summer as any other village. They knew that flowers and planting would make a difference to the appearance of the Village. They started to shout about it and with support from the Parish Council, Groby in Bloom began. To make a real difference it takes time and commitment. Groby in Bloom in doing that gave something more valuable than money to the Village. They helped to create a pretty picture.
There can be little doubt that the act of volunteering can make a difference. The effort made year after year by Groby in Bloom was testimony to this. They brought about a physical change to the areas they worked in. Residents could see the difference and said "Aren't the flowers beautiful this year?"
“Village in Bloom”, a Parish Council initiative, hopes to continue this work and maintain the standards to keep Groby beautiful for many years to come.
The Parish Council is always looking for new volunteers and would welcome anyone who can spare an hour or two to help keep the village looking beautiful. Potential volunteers don’t necessarily have to be expert gardeners and anyone with different skills and who is happy to tackle a wide range of tasks, indoors and outside, would be welcomed.
Voluntary Blooms by Rothery I paused on High Street to admire This fine consummate will? What burns that spirit there to fill The need to bloom and spill with pride, The village attitude, and turn The tide of covert apathy? And if this power lies latently |
